Chicago is decorated for the holiday, and that means only one thing--it's time for cookies! I will provide gingerbread--you should bring inspiration, willingness to have fun, and a taste for gingerbread. Please don't bring other food or beverages; save a need to snack on spicy and sweet gingerbread! If you need to eat something other than tea and gingerbread, please enjoy it before you stop by! :D
I plan to play Christmas music in the background. This is not exclusively Christmas-themed, so please don't feel excluded if you celebrate another winter holiday or don't celebrate at all! You are still incredibly welcome.
A reminder to those who have visited and a bulletin for those who have not--my home is very tiny. When not clustered around the kitchen table working on cookies, we shall be sitting on the carpet, with 5 chairs and 2 stools as needed. I have no couch, and woe to she who tries to sit on my bed. If you think you'll need a blanket or a pillow for additional comfort while reclining on the floor, I recommend that you bring one.
When you plan your outfit, don't forget that we'll be around cookies and frosting, the apartment is small, and we'll be sitting on the floor. This is not a good time for tons of rings and jewelry that might fall off, extra-long mega wigs, or elaborate or extra-poofy dresses that are hard to clean. I highly suggest bringing an apron.
In between baking and decorating, please feel welcome and encouraged to bring and work on small-scale unobtrusive crafts, such as knitting, crocheting, sketching, or other small personal projects. Leave the 1:1 scale model plane at home. The cookies-making will continue during all hours of the event, but there will be occasional breaks. The goal is to relax and enjoy each other's company!
Allergy Alert! We have two guinea pigs. They eat bluegrass and timothy hay. If you have hair/fur/dander or grass/hay allergies, please bring medication. Or tissues.
I encourage you to:
• Wear something comfortable (and bring/wear an apron)
• Share cookie-decorating supplies, such as icing, sprinkles, small candies, etc.
• Bring a pillow/blanket to sit upon (if you might require it)
• Contribute some hot tea--loose leaf or bags is fine
• Enjoy holiday spirit! AND COOKIES!
I live quite close to Belmont Avenue and Halsted Street. There are many CTA buses that travel to this part of the North side, and I am very near the Red and Brown line CTA Belmont stop. I would recommend using Google Maps to plan your trip. If you need personalized help, please ask me! If you get to my street on the day of the party and can't find the right door, call me!
You MUST R.S.V.P. for this gingerbread extravaganza! My home is tiny and I need to know how many batches of gingerbread to make in advance of the party.
To R.S.V.P., please comment and let me know how many people you are bringing and if you are bringing any decorating items.
